Nourish Skin for Radiance

Nourish Skin for Radiance

Skin is our largest organ and it reflects the health of our internal system. My approach to helping my clients achieve youthful, radiant skin is informing them that a lifestyle of whole foods, exercise, rest, water, Rhoda Design Group skincare, daily meditation and positive thinking are necessary. These also reduce stress to prevent premature aging, breakouts, redness, irritation, dryness and disease.

The beauty of Spring and warm weather invites us to enjoy being outside more. The sun provides an excellent source of vitamin D and happiness. Protect your skin with sunscreen and realize that the number of the SPF is the minutes of protection. For example, a 55 SPF is 55 minutes of sun protection. Usually, sunscreens higher than a 30 SPF do not have anti-aging and highly moisturizing ingredients.

Here are 7 sources of nutrition that work from the inside out to repair the skin and build up defense against the sun:

Green Tea is anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-oxidant (fights damaging free radicals from the sun) and contains polyphenols that prevent cancer.

Sunflower seeds are powerful sources of the anti-oxidant, Vitamin E. Other sources of Vitamin E are whole grains, green veggies, avocado and eggs.

Tomatoes contain lycopene, an anti-oxidant that protects the skin from harmful UV rays and reduces redness from sun damage. Steamed or cooked tomatoes release the benefits. Watermelons are another source of lycopene.

Salmon is a great source of omega 3 healthy fats and anti-oxidants that maintain a healthy layer of fat underneath the skin’s surface to prevent skin damage and premature aging. Other sources of omega 3’s are walnuts, flaxseed and tuna.

Sweet Potatoes have beta-carotene; an anti-oxidant that neutralizes the harmful free radicals from the sun. Carrots are another source of beta-carotene.

Asparagus as well as fresh fruits and vegetables are a source of Vitamin E as well as other vitamins and minerals that neutralize damaging free radicals.

Water makes skin healthier by hydrating at a cellular level. Dehydrated skin is more sensitive to sun damage and wrinkling. Alkaline ph water of 7 and higher contains minerals that reduce acid reflux, neutralizes acid in the bloodstream for increased oxygen, improves energy and metabolism, has antioxidant properties (anti-aging and anti-disease) and cleanses the colon.

The Rhoda Design Group approach to achieve healthy skin is based on scientific evidence that nutrition, exercise, and stress management makeup 80%, with nutrition being the biggest contributor.
