My Journey From Hollywood to Boardroom

My Journey From Hollywood to Boardroom

From the moment I saw the elegant women of New Hope Baptist Church serving with grace and purpose, I was inspired to begin my journey in image transformation. Charm school, debutante training, and a degree from a private fashion college in Long Beach set the stage.
An unexpected introduction to Smokey Robinson and songwriter Johnny Bristol led to Soul Train appearances and exposure to L.A.’s celebrity culture. After earning my degree, I refined my presence at John Robert Powers and studied professional makeup with the Stein family of Cinema Secrets. These experiences laid the foundation for empowering others.
A turning point came when a photographer friend encouraged me to enter a beauty contest in Marina Del Rey. I hesitated, but said yes and was honored to win. The judges shared that I stood out because of my elegance. That recognition led to appearances on The Jeffersons, The Dating Show, Facts of Life, and Diff’rent Strokes.
Despite making $600/day as an extra, something was missing. A friend reminded me: “Do what fulfills you.” That wisdom led me to my true purpose—empowering professional women with the tools to elevate their image, access greater opportunities, and lead with intention.
As a makeup artist for Saks, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus, I discovered how beauty and fashion together refine leadership presence. That passion became a calling: to help professional women align their inner clarity with their outer image.
What began as a desire to create a makeup line specifically for professionals has since evolved into a boutique personal branding firm, rooted in wellness, style, and lasting transformation. Because true presence is the alignment of your inner clarity with your outer image.
With the support of my dear friend Alice Rock, a brilliant color expert, we co-created a unique color analysis system based on warm, cool, and neutral palettes. This foundation inspired our Executive Makeup Kits, now trademarked for their innovation and convenience. These mineral-based collections function as a coordinated makeup wardrobe where eyeshadows double as brow colors and liners. TSA-approved and designed for quick, polished application, they’re tailored to professional women navigating both virtual and in-person leadership settings.
Now, as Rhoda Design Group celebrates 20 years in business, I invite you to explore the beautiful ways we can help you refine your leadership presence through image, wellness, and personal brand strategy.
Because how you show up should reflect all of who you are becoming.
