Lapis Lazuli is comprised of lazurite (the blue color), calcite (the white veining), and pyrite (the sparkly bits). Prized for centuries by its brilliant blue color, once more precious than gold. It has been widely used in art forms from Pharaoh's coffins to the Sistine Chapel. It is mainly sourced in Afghanistan and also found in Russia, China and Chile. 

Amethyst is the most valuable of the quartz variety. Amethyst comes from the Greek word, amethystos meaning sober. Medieval soldiers wore amethyst into battle to protect them and help them stay focused. It has been used for personal adornment for over 2000 years. It is sourced in South America, United States, Siberia, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Africa
